They have also been learning how to ask and respond to 'what do you want?'.  Today after doing some activities and textbook work students played GO FISH. The aim of the game is to get matching pairs of cards. In this version students used different colored shapes. They asked their friends for the card they wanted. If their friend didn't have the card, they would say 'GO FISH' and take a card from the pile. In particular different kinds of stationery like pencils, scissors and erasers. In today's lesson students watched videos about what students from overseas bring to school. There are some similarities such as bringing shoes or a toothbrush. But students were shocked to hear that many overseas students don't bring textbooks to school. Also they often bring lunch to school, too. After doing some other activities, students began to design their dream pencil case. Students drew their designs on their tablets. In today's lesson, students first answered questions about their favorite things. Then they sang a song. After that they made groups and played a board game. Students rolled the dice and their friends would ask them a question about what they like. Each space had a different question. For example, fruit, vegetable and ice cream flavor. After that students had a quiz. They had to guess who the teacher was based on the things they liked. They had an online ZOOM meeting with students from Australia. Students spoke to each other in English and Japanese. Our students have been studying English since they were in elementary school. Today was the first time they could communicate with students from overseas. These Australian students are from Cammeraygal High School. They have been studying Japanese for many years, too. It was also their first time using Japanese to speak real Japanese people.  The meeting began with self-introductions. Students could communicate happily and confidently. Finally, students made a slideshow to show what color, fruit and sport that they like. Students made these on their tablets.
